Add an injured Larry Fitzgerald to the mix and the Cardinals suddenly find themselves with a minor case of panic. Yes, the Lions are probably the worst team in the league, but the Cardinals can lose if they try too hard to destroy Detroit instead of just beating them. Detroit’s got one of the worst pass defenses in football. Internet betting sharps know that even if Fitzgerald doesn’t play, Kurt Warner should have no trouble slicing the defense apart. Arizona cannot be concerned about massacring Detroit; just win baby.

How The Lions Can Win

Other than a pre-Christmas miracle, not much will help Detroit in this game. The only sliver of hope the Lions have is Arizona’s weak rush defense, which ranks 20^th in the league. However that hope faded away last week when Kevin Smith suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Ravens. If backup Maurice Morris can have a career day and the Lions can keep the Cards offense off the field there will be a small chance for a Detroit victory. If not, then a miracle will be needed.

The Matchup

On paper, most everything favors the Cardinals. In reality, most everything favors the Cardinals. The Lions may actually be statistically worse this year than they were last year, which is a feat considering last season they didn’t win a single game. The Cardinals can smell the playoffs and there isn’t a person in that locker room that doesn’t want to wrap up the division as soon as possible. Arizona may not have to destroy Detroit, but there is a very good chance that they will. Without Smith, Detroit doesn’t really stand a chance. This one could get very, very ugly for the Lions.
