After various articles surrounding the amount of etiquette that games like golf and tennis demand, it hardly seems possible to open up today and learn that there has been a fan fight at one of the most etiquette-correct sports of them all. Golfers ask their fans to stand in complete silence, no clicking of cameras or anything while they attempt to hit a stationary ball. Tennis demands “quiet please” as the player approach the line to serve. However, the US Open Fight is part of the 2010 history and the fans will probably never enter another stadium in their life.

Apparently Novak Dokovic from Serbia and Philipp Petzschner from Germany were not offering up a lot of excitement. The origin of the actual fight probably goes back to that level of expected etiquette. Apparently a woman asked a fan not to continue to use a certain swear word. He was less than amused that she had the nerve to ask him to change his vocabulary and an argument turned into a US Open fight.

By the time the original two people arguing give it up, an older man steps into the mix and he and the younger one start to argue. Possibly the older man suggested that the younger foul mouth lad slap him. When the young guy took the elder up on the offer, a full brawl kicked in and the match had to be stopped. The only answer the US Tennis Association had for the US Open fight was in reference to it being a hot night in New York.

Last year’s season enders are usually used as a gage for how teams will perform this season coming up. That’s not necessarily reliable as players graduate, players leave and players get injured. If a school can maintain a central unit in the coaches office, that usually helps. Teams like Michigan might prefer to forget about those terrible endings and start prepping for a new beginning. However, many teams have set their eyes on the future based on the past such as UConn’s four game winning streak to end last season.

The predictions thus far for this game go to Michigan. Unless of course the Huskies can manage to score more than the predicted 30 points that Michigan is suppose to be able to throw up. Michigan really does look better on paper but as stated many times, games are not played on paper. The biggest issue facing Michigan right off the bat here is the fact that UConn has a defensive line that looks like they belong on a professional team somewhere instead of in college.

The smell of pigskin permeates the air in almost every college town in the country. Many teams hit the field last night for their first step toward a national championship finish. Other teams are slated to play later this weekend. Either way, regardless of the town, the college or the athletes, the College Football scores are starting to come to fruition.

Thursday night’s scores included Pittsburgh and Utah and the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Miami Hurricanes. The bigger the team the later in the weekend they play in general. The biggest of the NCAA teams will hit the field on Saturday. However, four ranked teams played on Thursday night rendering number fifteen Pittsburgh upset in overtime by Utah. Moreover, Terrelle Pryor made a huge showing to prove that he was deserving of attention in the Heisman race when he showed up in the college football scores last night.

As for Ohio State, running back Brandon Saine covered 103 yards on the ground and scored 2 touchdowns. Miami, as usual, has a star all their own. Wide receiver Leonard Hankerson with 115 yards receiving with only 6 catches taking 2 of those for touchdowns. The one sentiment no one is arguing, college football scores for 2010 are going to be exciting to watch, one way or another.

For many sports fans, the preseason NFL wasn’t enough to get a good feel of football excitement. For a vast majority of fans, college football takes precedent over the NFL for several weeks each fall. That’s not to say that the NFL is pushed aside and with all their controversy of late, they are likely to maintain some of the limelight. But, the College Football Schedule kicks off in full swing tonight with Marshall and Ohio State hitting the field in one of the biggest match ups for season openers.

Other teams making their mark are Southern Miss at South Carolina on ESPN, Towson and Indiana, and Division II West Texas A & M will be at Grand Valley State on CBS. The sole game on Friday night pits Arizona at Toledo in a game that is sure to light up ESPN one way or another. By the time Saturday gets here, high school football will be underway in many areas but die hard college fans have choices galore. The College football schedule for Saturday lines up Purdue at Notre Dame, Texas at Rice and Coastal Carolina at West Virginia.

Late Saturday evening fans will be getting their tailgate parties underway for Memphis at Mississippi State, LSU at South Carolina and Cincinnati at Fresno State. Most intra-state rivals are reserved for the last game of the season but late Saturday night, Grambling State will take on Louisiana Tech. The west coast folks will be kicking off Wisconsin at Nevada at 11 pm EST which seems late unless of course you are on the west coast in Nevada taking it all in. The college football schedule holds an enormous amount of excitement so don’t hesitate to find your game and get your party started.

Golf is a funny sport when it comes to rules and etiquette. Very rarely do players get loud, or fans for that matter, as it is just not considered to be proper. Tennis is the same way to an extent in that when players are serving, the judge request silence. But baseball is different on so many levels and the first one being the noise level at these events is short of ear deafening sometimes. However, even baseball doesn’t condone the kind of behavior put up by the Marlins Nationals Fight last night.

Tennis players jumping nets to clobber their opponent with their fists or worse yet, golfers headed after one another with a nine iron would result in excruciating punishment. When two teams meet up with everyone knowing in the back of their mind that the two teams are controversial, then rest assured, umpires and security need to be put on alert. Tuesday night, Nyjer Morgan was on the base path headed for home and Marlins catcher Brett Hayes was the only barrier between the two. The Marlins Nationals fight on Wednesday night was spill over from the fact that Hayes suffered a separated shoulder after that play.

Right off the bat to get things going, pitcher Volstad hit Morgan with a pitch. The message was clear but instead, Morgan proceeded to steal both second and third base. By the sixth inning, the pitches from Volstad to Morgan were hardly considered normal. A pitch behind the back of the always volatile Morgan resulted in a Marlins Nationals fight that was really just a bunch of temperamental a bunch of wealthy little kids out there throwing tantrums.
