Dodgers, Phillies Pursue Roy Oswalt

Football players are nearing training camp and free agency for the NBA is slowly coming to a close as well, In the meantime the Dodgers and Phillies are in hot pursuit of Roy Oswalt. Baseball players move through various teams in the minor leagues rapidly without a lot of input on their placement. However, Roy Oswalt has indicated that he had no problem asking for the money he believes he is worth.

Unfortunately for Oswalt, the Astros aren’t terribly happy with the fact that his representatives are looking for up to $16 million. With Oswalt’s desire for the big money, the Cardinals and Rangers appear to be on the outside of the whole negotiation process. While Oswalt is waiting out the big bucks no one has made any indication that Ted Lilly is a good choice. Lilly has as much as $5 million on his contract according to SI.

Other big players garnering attention right now are Lance Berkman, Scott Downs, Jorge Cantu, Kevin Gregg and Jason Frasor. The teams after these guys include the Mets,  Yankees and the Rockies although there are some other teams showing a little interest. The Rangers and the Marlins appear to be in the market to pick up some of these big names if the price is right.
