Mets Announcer: Keith Hernandez Falls Asleep

Sleeping disorders are fairly common. And, the fact that athletes in play-off situations often function on much less sleep than normal is a fairly well-known fact. However, the Mets are just getting their season into gear, not in a heated playoff battle. But the news that Keith Hernandez falls asleep during a game is quiet comical to most.

Baseball seasons generally consist of over 160 games and to think that the broadcasters who work each and every game get a bit tired is a bit much considering the players who actually get on the field. As of right now, the Mets haven’t even made it to the half-way mark and Keith Hernandez falls asleep during a game. This doesn’t look too good for the remainder of the Mets season. Even if this particular game was pushing 3 hours and 32 minutes long, how many of you would be excused for sleeping at work, never mind a work day that is less than 8 hours long?

The fact that Hernandez is loved by Mets fans may be the one thing that saves the day for him. After all, he wasn’t watching one of those games that keeps you on the edge of your seat watching for the perfect game or the game winning squeeze play. Once Keith Hernandez falls sleep, the Mets had managed to take the game into extra inning and his fellow analyst apparently felt like he deserved some rest. The other members of he broadcast team obviously knew the feeling of exhaustion and let him take a little cat nap but not without making him the butt of their jokes.
