Gilbert Arenas Sentencing

The Washington Wizards star player, Gilbert Arenas, will soon find out his fate as his sentencing hearing takes place Friday, March 26. Arenas plead guilty to breaking the city’s gun laws earlier this year. Gilbert Arenas took guns into the Wizards locker room in the Verizon center in what he claims was part of a prank. Whether or not that is true how dumb can you possibly be to bring guns into an arena nevermind the teams locker room. I personally feel that they should throw the book at Arenas to send a message to professional athletes who act in such a bad manner. Gilbert Arenas Sentencing

Gilbert Arenas could be sentenced to serve jail time for a felony gun conviction. Arenas defense lawyers are asking for community service but prosecutors believe in jail time for the troubled NBA player. Professional athletes today feel that they can pretty much get away with anything and that has to stop. Athletes are role models for thousands of children and should act as such. Gilbert Arenas should be suspended indefinitely from the NBA in my opinion.

What would Gilbert Arenas turn to if he could not play in the NBA anymore. I would guarantee that he would wind up in jail within 5 years. Athletes like Arenas just do not get it and the fact that he was joking around after the incident only proves how dumb some of these athletes are. Most of these troubled Athletes go from College or High School to the Pros and never realize how the real life actually works. They get thrown a pile of money to play a sport and they then think they are invincible. Hopefully the Gilbert Arenas sentencing will be firm enough so that other athletes will take notice and perhaps fear what could happen to them if they act in this manner.

Feel free to leave a comment below with your take on the Gilbert Arenas sentencing.

I am sorry but I have to disagree with you. Just as the courts should not treat Gilbert any different than any one else due to his status and Pro Athlete figure; I also think that the sentence should not be determined to set an example.

If Gilbert can not receive a pass because he is a celebrety, then he should also not be thrown or made an example of because he is a celeb.

I believe that Gilbert was not trying to do any harm, other than making a VERY, VERY poor choice when he brought the guns to Verizon Center. Now, the judge has to do his job and sentence him but everyone else needs to remember that we are not put on this earth to judge anyone.

The judicial system should work its process (how ever f'd up it might be) and then Gilbert should serve his time. I hope that he comes away from this with more knowledge and maturity but one can only hope.

Given you're entitled to your opinion...maybe don't generalize so much? Do you know Gilbert Arenas? Are you a professional athlete? Banned from the NBA for life? He deserves to be punished, but not to be made an example of. The punishment should fit the crime without any biased judgements.

It's not like he shot or killed anyone...Get real.
